Brett's financial advising experience dates back to high school when a mentor encouraged him to pursue a degree in either economics or finance. He started interning for the company during his second year of college and went to work full time after graduation. Two years into the job, he realized this was the industry he wanted to work in, but not that particular segment, so he left to work for Jackson National in Denver. Throughout the years, Bengtson has managed and coached advisors and sold investment products.

Now a husband and father with a young family, Bengtson wanted to spend more time at home. When the opportunity came to acquire a book of business from a former partner, the time was right to open his own office. In November 2016, he launched Bengtson Wealth Management.

“The prospect of really getting into this industry right here in the backyard where I grew up -- serving the community that has been so good to me and my family -- was really a draw to me,” he said. “I would say that I got into this business because I truly believe there’s a noble aspect to it. I feel like each and every day, I have marching orders to help people with something that a lot of times they stress about more than they do their health. The opportunity to get up and do that every day, even in the short time I’ve been in this role, I’ve figured out what I want to do when I grow up. I really have a passion for it and it is so fulfilling. It’s more than just a paycheck or a career. To me, it’s becoming a mission. We’re here to help people and we’re here to grow with people.” - Brett Bengtson
